- People’s ethnic and cultural background has a dramatic impact on how they experience community
- Only about one in four of the respondents attended an ethnic or cultural event put on by an ethnic or cultural group different than their own
- Most of us still see our own ethnic group as our “in-group.”
- 17% of respondents experience discrimination in their day-to-day lives. The most likely to report discrimination are single parents (24%), people of Aboriginal ancestry (27%), and South Asians (28%), the ethnic group with the fastest-growing number of new immigrants
